“Innovation happens at the intersection of two or more disciplines” - Frans Johanson | The Medici Effect
This is my modus operandi. Every culture throughout time and history has had those renaissance thinkers and doers. What did they have in common? “They” more often than not, were well versed practitioners in the arts and sciences. Why? Well, the big benefit is you can borrow from different systems of thinking, or as stated above two or more disciplines. When you use one system of thinking or framework with different content, often this is where you have your Eureka moments. Playfulness plays a big part in successful experimentation for innovation. Pun playfully intended.
SO, why I am telling you this? I am a jack of all trades, master of one, and that’s people. People, I believe are the heart and foundation of every successful design.
Now that you have context on my perspective on life, allow me to introduce myself, I am Tina Israni, born and raised in New York City, daughter of Indian immigrants, granddaughter of Sindhi refugees, as well as a scandiphile of the land of happiness & design after a brief stint in London and Mumbai. I am in one word Global, and enjoy remote work settings. In spite of all my travels, and island hopping from Bornholm to Manhattan, I find this saying holds true: “You can take the New Yorker out of New York, but never the New York out of the New Yorker.”
In one word, I am : Curious. The mosaic of the lens through which I see people and the world, is a rich one, deeply nuanced personally and professionally, given the range of my experiences and interests garnering varying levels of social and cultural capital, as can be seen on my CV or portfolio. I sit at the intersection of people, product and design. It is my pleasure to bring this wealth of personal and professional experience to employers, clients, mentees, and students alike.
FUN FACTS : I’m also a sock designer and have a long love affair with bubble tea. I am an exhibited artist in Germany and Denmark, a published poet, a meditator, free dancer and DJ (you read that right!), and holistic coach. Oh, and I make a mean thai curry for those lucky few, maybe you!

Some last words, before you go.
One cold New York City morning, over a decade ago, I read a poem by Dawna Markova. It continues to dwell within me, as my driving force. I am an adventurer.
I will not die an unlived life
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible,
to loosen my heart
until it becomes a wing,
a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance;
to live so that which came to me as seed
goes to the next as blossom
and that which came to me as blossom,
goes on as fruit.
